Birth Certificate

Please look over the following instructions carefully and include all necessary documents in support of your application for a birth certificate.

Information for Afghan nationals born overseas (outside of Afghanistan)

Applicants whom are born outside of Afghanistan and wish to apply for a Birth Certificate through the embassy must provide the following:

• Birth certificate from the country of birth
• Parents Afghan national ID (Tazkira or Passport)
• Any other relevant documentation from hospital of birth
• $25 Money Order or Draft Bank Cheque payable to ‘Embassy of Afghanistan’
• Registered self-addressed envelope, or organise courier for collection of documents.

Information for Afghans born in Afghanistan

If the applicant is born in Afghanistan, they must provide the following information and documents to the embassy to issue a birth certificate:

• Birth Certificate, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Tazkira, certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Original passport
• $25 Money Order or Draft Bank Cheque payable to the ‘Embassy of Afghanistan’
• Registered self-addressed envelope, or organise courier for collection of documents.
• In event the applicant does not have an Afghan Passport or Tazkira, they must apply for a new Tazkira which can be issued in their absence by the Ministry of Interior Affairs. Details on how lodge an application for Tazkira here.

To avoid any unnecessary delays, it’s highly recommended to submit all the required documents and provide details of convenient method of contact in an event where more information is needed to process your application.
